Lourdes, 65 years old, suffers from diabetes and has gone through heart surgery. Yet, she lives in a shack with no electricity or running water. In summer, without freezer, how will she manage to store insulin? During illness episodes, people and their relatives find themselves unable to carry on with their personal, professional and social lives. Illnesses very often come together with loneliness, social exclusion, income loss, and instability… and viceversa: social exclusion causes and/or exacerbates health conditions. Social care and health care needs are very often concurrent circumstances.
